Assembly robots build towers and bridges
Researcher at University of Stuttgart ‘s ICD build a prototype of “Assembly Robots ” that collaborate and build complex structures. The robot shines in its simplicity: two pincer and rotating gear and sensors.
This robot can do little alone, but collaborating is able to move and manipulate wooden timbers , in similar way to this Caterpillar Robot .

The system developed is composed of multiple, collaborative, single axis robots, designed to utilise standardised timber beams as a building material and for its locomotion system. The material is an integral part of the robotic system, minimising its complexity.
